Colosseum Rome Review
I will now write about the world famous Colosseum in Rome. I was about 5 weeks in the Italian capital.
The Colosseum is probably THE emblem par excellence of Rome, as it is for a fairly well preserved, and second, in terms of size is quite impressive.
Like almost all the sights in Rome, the Colosseum is located in the center of Rome, more precisely at the “Piazza del Colosseo”. 1-2 tram lines and 10 bus lines go there too long and the metro line B (The Colosseo station) – but always on the lookout for pickpockets.
Well, but before I want to tell you about the “inside” the building, once something to the outside view. Even from outside the Colosseum looks huge, is not there so much space in front. It is also just 20 meters away and looks up the sometimes 60 meters high wall.
Of course, many tourists, which are, logically, in particular, the Entrance and Exit highly frequented. Even here one should be careful, because like everywhere in Rome, where many tourists, there are also pickpockets and other thieves.
In addition, a few stalls are set up offering a bottle of mineral water and the Roman costume and be photographed with tourists for an appropriate fee can be … So, you now have passed the gates. There are dozens of access points into the interior and lots of stairs that lead upward. The steps of the stairs are really big, it incredibly hard to run up there. Like the earlier the little men have just made? Well, then it has done at some point and is located in the Coliseum, the view in the distance is approximately impressive.

At the bottom you can see once all the underground passages and ramifications. You can go into the lower level and long in the fall of the first Floor. Through the many windows you have always the possibility out onto the pitch and partly to look at the Roman Forum. It is also possible the visit to the basement to make, but that we had on this wonderful day times do not want.
More or less… yes, the Coliseum has a elliptical shape, is 78 meters long and 46 meters wide and were formerly held here gladiator fights, animal hunts and sometimes theatrical performances. The whole construction was designed so that all 50,000 people could leave in an emergency within 10 minutes of the amphitheater – is that in any football stadium “… blah blah blah. Yeah, very interesting, as you already noted.
Finally, I can really only recommend the Coliseum. The building is really quite well preserved and architecturally certainly admirable. Because of the many courses you can always discover new again, even if some areas are blocked off. But is really great, if you imagine what is here departed from “several” years. Unfortunately, the ticket prices set quite high and it’s pretty crowded, but the times you must just be accepted.
For each RomeTourist the Colosseum is certainly required! There’s a total of five stars from me.
