Summer Island Village – Maldives

Now that the next holiday is just around the corner (in two weeks we go to Majorca), it is high time that to write a report on the last holiday hotel. This year the holiday was great in the beautiful island world of Maldives.

We opted for the three-star hotel in the North Male Atoll. Three stars are actually somewhat less, but the four-star hotels were too expensive.

The first thing one sees when approaching the hotel, is water, beach, sea and palm trees. That’s how we in paradise. The whole island is beautifully green with palm trees and other plants. It is best to immediately pulls off shoes and goes barefoot on the dock and about half the island to the reception. However, the jetty when walking barefoot is  a lot of small sharp stones.

Arriving at the reception, there is directly a welcome drink and a nice cold towel. A blessing! Our tour guide took care of immediately loved all around us, brought us the usual forms to fill out and then the room key. The holiday began with great. We were then brought together with our luggage to our little bungalow (only a few steps to the water). A safe in the room was not available. However, You could, “rent” a safe at the reception free of charge.

Outside the bungalow we had a small terrace with two super comfortable reclining rocking chairs and a small table.

Also the reception is in the middle of the island, the dining room, a small shop, a bar and various seating areas and a small library with Internet access. But beware, this is extremely slow and sometimes does not work at all. There is also a spa and wellness center. It does not have a pool on the island. But honestly, who needs a pool ?

Summer Island Village is an absolute summer barefoot island, Since Summer Island Village has no reef, one can twice a day with a boat ride out to snorkel. There are three different riffs that can be approached.  We have seen huge fish, turtles, sharks and parrot fish.

At best, you should buy snorkeling equipment. In the shop on the island is otherwise available from $ 25.00. We forget the fins at home, We will not be taken out with no fins, because sometimes the water flow can be a bit stronger, so that we would be lost without fins. But you can also rent snorkel gear.

Snorkel for beginners but you can also go snorkeling directly from the beach. Also here you can already see an incredible number of fish – even Nemos and Dories.

Twice a week to feed stingrays at the boat dock. The huge stingrays come every afternoon at about four o’clock.

You can also snorkel in the water and feed them but should beware!. We have made this a time. It’s incredibly fascinating to see how they swim. Underwater you can see really how big they are.

However suddenly most of them has pursued me! Luckily I was faster, he has also become faster. Then I came out of the water. I really had a bit scared. So far, though never happen, but you can know it?

What you really should join one, is night fishing. The night fishing trip will cost $ 17.00. You just only have one fishing line is wound on a stick or similar, a hook and a bait fish it. The whole is then thrown into the water and waited. Normally it lasts probably only a few minutes until you can get out the first fish. For the dinner the largest fish cooked and served on a separate table just for the night fisherman. The remaining fish are the employees.

Who goes like banana boat, should combine this with a trip to the sandbar. There are beautiful corals, many fish and naturally also the chance of sharks:)

It hard to describe about all of my experience on Summer Island Village. Meet, Relax, Nice people, No noise, No entertainment, Great food, Great spa – what more could you want on holiday?

Now I will say only that it was again a perfect holiday. And I would like to come back any time!
